I've had to think a little about the decorating questions you ask. I think my own approach is that if you love it, it will fit somewhere. Consequently, I don't seem to have a theme. I like to think of my style as eclectic (love that word!), but I'm sure there are less flattering terms that would describe it also. :-)

I noticed that thermometer too! It's an Isaak Newton or DaVinci invention isn't it? It was Jesse's present from me when we had Christmas in DeAnna's little house in Boise. I think that's where she was living when she met Preston. Jesse was afraid of taking it back with him on the plane - too much hassle to keep it from breaking. That was one Christmas that Jesse came with presents for everyone that he bought himself. I don't think he had a girlfriend at the time at all. If he did, I know she didn't do his shopping because I remember him talking about how he knew exactly what he wanted to get for everyone and did the shopping himself. Sorry got off on a tangent there. ;) Anyway - I remember that thermometer! It is very cool to see that you still have it.

I think these pics convey the style you are going for, however, I am no good with designing and decorating so I have no useful thoughts for you. But I do think it's super cool that you still have that crazy thermometer that I think was really Jesse's once upon a time. You have definitely earned ownership.

I think I may have painted the paneling in my living room the exact same color as what is in your living room. It absolutely does look different every hour of the day and night depending on the light - both natural and artificial. Sometimes it looks really orange and sometimes it looks really pink and sometimes it looks soft and sometimes it looks really intense. I chose it because it reminded me of the beautiful sunrises we have here.
